Visual Artist/Photographer callout
The In Our Words team (a joint partnership between Odd Arts, Hideaway Youth Project and Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse) are seeking a visual artist and/or photographer to lead on a young person-led photography or visual arts project at a Manchester high school, December 2025 to February 2026. The project will explore social justice issues, supporting young people to create work for a physical and online photography exhibition, contributing to their own creative portfolios. A final showcase will take place after project completion (date TBC). In Our Words is a national lottery funded project.
About the role
The artist will:
- Deliver photography and creative workshops
- Support young people to explore social justice issues through visual storytelling
- Guide the young people towards producing exhibition-ready work
- Adapt sessions to meet the needs and ideas of young people
Essential skills and qualities
- A strong interest in the arts, creative expression and photography
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with young people
- Work collaboratively with the In Our Words team, school and volunteers
- Proactive problem-solving skills
- Commitment to In Our Words partnership values of inclusivity, creativity and social justice
- Willingness to complete safeguarding training prior to the project
Desirable skills
- Practical experience of working with young people in varied settings
- An Enhanced DBS check
- Safeguarding trained
Fee: £103.00 per session (number of sessions TBC)
