Disabled Theatre Maker or Script Writer (with Wider Disability Awareness)
What is involved:
● Co-facilitating with Odd Arts team, working with disabled and non-disabled actors
and community members, using findings from the workshop to develop script
treatment (12-14 hours)
● Co-designing a workshop to accompany the performance (4 hours)
● Co-facilitating (alongside and Odd Arts facilitator) a two hour creative training
workshop to professionals (2 hours)
Practicalities and logistics:
● Development of work can be done both remotely, and from our community base in
Hulme (Aquarius Centre). Aquarius Centre is accessible for wheelchair users and all
on one level, with calm-space areas, and an accessible toilet. Free parking is
available. Timings of the development work can be flexible.
● The workshop training delivery will take place from a council building in Rochdale
where lifts are available for reaching all floors, and accessible toilets. Public/paid
parking is available very nearby. For this date, arrival time will be 9.30am, completion
time no later than 1pm.
What themes should be addressed in the workshop and performance:
● Disability awareness and inclusion/exclusion, including the diversity of disability, and
visible and non-visible disabilities
● An intersectional lens
● The performance should focus on physical or visible disability, and workplace barriers
and discrimination
● Exploring ‘othering’ and what ‘non-judgemental’ behaviour looks like, including
Ableism.
Work must be completed between 11th Dec and 29th Jan.
You must be available on 29th Jan for training, other times have some flexibility.
